Overview

Indigo is an electronic medical record and hospital management software. The company was created to help hospital manage patients, doctors, inventory, lab, finance and administrative activities within an hospital and a Version 1 was developed in 2017.

Introduction

Patient visits are a crucial part of any EMR for any hospital as at least 80% of the hospital operations revolve around them. Nailing the patient visit section meant alleviating the pains of a good number of our customers.

Patient visits are something that has to be used for every patient in the hospital, either inpatient or outpatient, because of how hospital operations are designed. Patient visits are used by doctors and nurses.

Role and Collaborators

My role on the project was to work as a Product Lead and as such, I was involved in the end to end design process from initial research to high-fidelity designs .

Understanding The Problem

I spent a lot of time with Doctors and Nurses that uses V1 in other to get direct feedback

  1. Version 1 was tailored to just Optical specialised hospitals
  2. Patient Visit section records is cumbersome and difficult as it it doesn’t have a preview of entries and are all in one place
  3. A lot of typing was required during consultation and doctors had to come back and start filing it after consultation
  4. Every forms had to be searched for before you can fill them
  5. You can’t view past case notes or patients visit while filling a case note
  6. The general time used to fill a case note during consultation was X2 slower than the average appointment time
  7. Navigation was difficult
